PAST CONTINUONS TENSE X SIMPLE PAST

O Past Continous Tense apresenta uma ação que estava acontecendo no passado, que durava enquanto a outra ação acontecia.

FORMAÇÃO: verbo TO BE no passado+ gerúndio do verbo principal.

Ex: He was playing the piano when she arrived.

verbo to be=was

verbo principal=playing

Ex: they were singing a beautiful song when their mother called

verbo to be= were

verbo principal=singing

Observe as frases nas formas afirmativa, negativa e interrogativa.

AFIR: I was cleaning the house when she arrived.

NEG: I was not cleaning the house when she arrived.

NEG.CONT: I wasn’t cleaning the house when she arrived.

INT: Was I cleaning the house when she arrived?
